Battle of the Ourcq River (5 sept. 1914 – 8 sept. 1914)
Description:
Between the French Sixth Army and the German First Army.
It was here that the general of the Germany First Army changed The Schlieffen Plan, assuming that the Allies couldn't hold out against an attack on Paris from the east (the original plan said to attack from the north in an encircling maneuver). This change exposed the right flank of the German attacking force.
The German First Army retreated to the Marne river region in a northerly direction.
