First science exhibition held (1 janv. 1877 – 31 déc. 1877)
Description:
Japan was eager to teach its population visually rather than explain things because the government thought this was more efficient. As a result Japan began attending Western exhibitions and held its first one in Ueno Park in 1877, which attracted 450,000 attendees. At first the Japanese had only plant dyes and wooden mechanisms to show off at these exhibitions, but by 1903 they had electric lights and trams.
