The French Revolution (5 mai 1789 – 9 nov 1799)

Description:

The more radical revolutionaries killed important noble figures to make points, in protest against the system. Two such figures were King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette, who were both beheaded by the revolutionaries. Some important figures in the French Revolution were Marquis de Lafayette, Napoleon Bonaparte, Madame Roland and Maximilien Robespierre. These men (and woman) were all integral to the outcome of the revolution and are very famous. Lafayette was driven out of France by the radicals as, even though he supported the people, the more radical revolutionaries only cared that he was an aristocrat. Napoleon overthrew the Directory and crowned himself Emperor of France. Madame Roland and Robespierre were at odds with each other throughout the revolution and both were eventually beheaded.
