Description:
During the war, the Patriots didn't have a clear goal, the members of the Continental Congress still had meetings when wars were still going on. They decided that parting from Britain was the only option while colonies were independent from each other. Some delegates who became American presidents such as John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson decided to draft a statement saying they would declare their independence from Britain. The document was mostly written by Thomas Jefferson, and is the American Declaration of Independence.
