Description:
In early sept, Sibley tries to negotiate with little crow but little crow does not want to surrender. Sibley states the reasons for the war and says he is willing to release Dakota prisoners. Sibley pushes further to get him to surrender but little crow refuses. Sibley and his troops go to the MN river arriving later at wood lake where they camp for the night. The next morning the troops are searching for food when they find a group of Dakota soldiers who had been planning to attack Sibley's men. That was the last major U.S-Dakota battle, and the Dakota had lost
