The Battle of Ortona was a battle fought by Germany with the support of Italian Social Republic on one side and Canadian forces (Allied Forces) on the other. This is significant to Canada due to the fact it was one of the toughest battle fought in the war, and the Canadian forces in this battle were mainly new recruits who were able to win the battle, helping Allied Forces in the war. This was significant to the war as Ortona was one of the few usable deep water ports on the east coast.
