Description:

Anton (1632 - 1723), a Dutch tradesman and scientist, known for his work on the development and improvement of the microscope as well as his (future) contribution towards, the study of microbiology.

Using his own handcrafted microscopes, Anton van Leeuwenhoek was the first person to observe and describe single-celled organisms. He referred them as animalcules (which we refer to as micro-organisms).

Anton discovered and recorded many things like; muscle fibres, bacteria, spermatozoa and blood flow in capillaries (small blood vessels).
