The creation of soviets were created in 1905 during the textile strike but really got into the revolution in 1917. It started off like a strike committee and it eventually developed into an elected group of workers. Radical leftist revolutionaries overthrew Russia’s czar Nicholas II, ending centuries of Romanov rule. The Bolsheviks established a socialist state in the territory that was once the Russian Empire.
