20 sept. 1916 - Rasputin got recognized as a true mystic

Description:

Rasputin went to Verkhoture Monastery in Russia, where he planned to become a monk, but did not. Instead he got married and began wandering around Russia. Eventually he went to St. Petersburg with a reputation as a mystic and faith healer. A couple years later he was introduced to Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna, Nicholas II's wife. The two were looking for someone to help heal their son, Alexis, who was very ill. Rasputin "cured" their son of hemophilia, which helped him gain the confidence of Nicholas II and the passionate support of Alexandra. On December 29, 1916, a few people thought against his ideas of being "magic," and invited him over to the Yusupov's Palace. Some of these people included Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich and Prince Felix Yusupov. While Rasputin was there, he was fed wine and cakes that had cyanide in them. However, Rasputin did not die from that. Instead he died when the others realized that the drug was not killing him, they shot him multiple times. They then rolled him up in a carpet and put him into the Neva River, where he was discovered a few days later.
