Description:

Dred Scott was a slave of a military general, he would move with his owner from place to place. He lived in free states, and then was moved around between free and slave states. His owner had passed away and his wife wanted to sell Dred. He appealed to the Supreme court saying he was free, but they ruled against him since he wasn't considered a citizen and therefore, he had to right to appeal to the Supreme Court. He cited the equal protection clause of the constitution.
