Oct. 29th, 1929
Description:
With the introduction of credit into American society, people began to buy stocks and bonds on credit. Because of increasing credit default, the money was spent without an actual return on the money, and banks had excess loans that could not be liquidated. Due to these and a few other factors, on October 29th, the NYSE collapsed, losing billions of dollars, plunging America and the world into a depression.
