The Harlem Renaissance was a perfect example of the change during the time period. The African American community culminated in Harlem, New York to develop their own new culture based on their past. The African American community developed the new brand of music called Jazz and Louis Armstrong and Langston Hughes were prominent figures in expressing this new brand of music spreading it. This period is considered a golden age in African American culture, manifesting in literature, music, stage performance and art.
