6 h 51 min, 22 sept. 1862 ans - Emancipation Proclamation

Description:

The Emancipation Proclamation was an executive order issued by president Lincoln shortly after the Union victory at Antietam. Lincoln knew that he could not have the aim of the Civil War be abolition, because it wouldn’t be supported by everyone in the North, so the aim of the Civil War was to preserve the Union. However, due to the Union success in the war, Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which declared all slaves in Confederate states free. While this didn’t physically free the states, his proclamation made abolition a goal of the Civil War.
