I believe that the end of World War 2 was the most important event of this century. It shifted the global powers from countries such as France and Britain to the U.S. and Russia. Also it lead to the formation of the European Union, a driving force in the world today. Lastly it lead to the cold war containing the Vietnam war and mass production of nuclear weapons. However possibly the most impactful thing following WW2 was the creation of Isreal creating many of the problems we see in the middle east today
