British chemist, Robert Augustus Chesebrough, traveled to Titusville to research more on the newly discovered petroleum, what he called "Wonder Jelly". After studying the process of getting it, he saw that many of the workers put the jelly on their cuts and scrapes to help heal them. With five years of perfecting the extraction and purification process, the product was ready to be used by the people in America as a medicinal healer.
