21 sept. 1776 - Great Fire of New York
Description:
A fire broke out in the Fighting Cocks Tavern under British control. George Washington along with others, decided they would be crushed against the British due to being outnumbered. Washington then suggested burning New York City so that the British would gain a little from it. He then vanishes the idea and the British occupied the city on September 21st. In result, a third of the city burnt and 493 houses destroyed.
