Description:
This is when the town people of Casas Viejas decided to take control of the town from its landowners violently. They were frustrated from the high unemployment rates and the low wages for their jobs. These people that lead the attack could be considered anarchists. The left wing government at the time sent in the forces to stop the protests, which lead to 20 people being killed in the process. This lead to a split in the left wing government and the popular front, and the CNT was seen as an enemy by socialists. In order to rebuild the popular front the CNT advocated for its members to vote for the popular front in the elections. This didn't work, since the right side won the elections overwhelmingly.
