Description:

The Washington naval treaty was a treaty signed during 1922 among the major nations that had won World War 2, which agreed to prevent an arms race by limiting naval construction. It was agreed at the Washington Naval conference, held in Washington DC. From November 1921 to February 1922 is was signed by the governments of the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Italy and France. It limited the construction of battleships, battle cruisers and aircraft carriers. The number of other categories of warships that include, cruisers, destroyers and submarines. These were not limited by the treaty. However, these ships were only limited to 10,000 tons of displacement each.
