Description:
Lawrence G. Roberts with Thomas Merrill makes the first long distance computer connection between the MIT TX-2 and System Development Corporation's Q-32 (Santa Monica, California). The result showed that computers could work together remotely, but the telecommunication mode of the telephone system was unsuitable. Kleinrock's concept of packet communication was a must.
