Description:
US Congress passes the Meat Inspection Act and the Pure Food and Drug Act. After the Pure Food and Drug Act was signed, enforcing the act fell to the responsibility of the Bureau of Chemistry. In 1927, it was renamed to the Food, Drug, and Insecticide Administration. In 1931 it was shortened to the Food and Drug Administration(FDA). In 1940 the FDA was relocated from the USDA to the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare.
