globalization did not affect social movements as we considered it to. globalization is divided into 4: (1) economic globalization does not account for the rise of social movements. (2) globalization of resources and networks might provide insights into social movements, but not explain them. (3) globalization of norms do not explain emergence of indigenous movements, but indigenous movements appilled to international norms to strenghen their claims. (4) political glbalization dos not explain the movements adequantly.
states remain important. social movments emerge where (1) pre-exsisting corporate identities are challanged (2) trans community networks provide mobilization (3) associational spaces exsist and faclitate collective expression.
