apr 5, 1933 - CCC

Description:

The CCC was created during the 100 days and was the most popular of FDR's New Deal schemes. The law created employment in fresh air camps for 3 million young men doing "useful" work. They became fire-fighters, deforesters, flood controllers and swamp drainers, among other things. The men were forced to send the majority of their wages to their families, keeping them from spending excess money on frivolities. This proved to be an excellent method of conserving natural and human resources.
