sep 20, 1919 - Red Scare
Description:
A large number of strikes between 1916 and 1919 were associated with Russian Bolshevism, dissuading people to join strikes or unions. Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer began the Palmer raids, arresting 6,000 people, supposedly radicals, anarchists, and communists, under the Alien and Sedition Acts. In June of 1919, a bomb exploded in his house, turning the "Fighting Quaker" into the "Quaking Fighter."
