oct 16, 1859 - John Brown’s raid on Harpers Ferry

Description:

John Brown was a man who believed that he was called of God to end slavery, and he also believed that violence was the only path to freeing the slaves. On the 16th of October in 1859, he and a handful of men raided a town in the South called Harpers Ferry. The raid went badly, and John Brown and his men were captured. John Brown was hanged for treason not long after. This event made the south believe that the north would do anything to destroy their way of life.
