On Wednesday, March 28, 1979, the headless torso of a young white male was found approx. 425ft down a ravine off of Glendora Ridge Rd near mile marker 10.74 in the Mount Baldy area by two hikers. On May 22, 1979, the skull of a young white male was found by a road maintenance worker in Claremont, LA County, CA. The skull was determined to have belonged to the same person as the torso. John Doe had been decapitated, and was the victim of a homicide. He had died about one week prior to the discovery of his torso.

The NamUs page for John Doe's torso lists him as 17-21 years old, while that of his skull lists him as 19-26 years old. Meanwhile, Doe Network states he was 16-22 years old, and NCMEC lists 16-26. John Doe was 5'7-5'10. He had blonde or strawberry hair, 4"-6" in length. He had a vaccination scar on his left upper arm. His body was described as well-developed and slightly slender, with a light to medium complexion. He had at least eight silver fillings in his teeth, a small gap in his upper central incisors, and a slight overbite.
