may 10, 1768 - Wilkes, the Prime Minister, was sent to prison in the Tower of London. Because George III made peace with Fance and left Prussia to fight France alone, Wilkes made a strong attack on the government in his newspaper. He believed that freedom of speech was the basic right of every individual.
