The Forensic Science Research and Training Laboratory (FSRTL) at George Mason University, located on the Science and Technology Campus in Manassas, Virginia, is a specialised facility dedicated to the scientific stufy of forensic taphonomy - the examination of postmortem processes affecting human remains. Spanning five acres of secre, enclosed woodland, FSRTL is the only human taphonomic research facility in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern United States, making it on of just ten such facilities worldwide. This unique positioning allows for region-specific research into decomposition rates, scavenger activities, and environmental impacts on human remains, providing critical data for forensic investigations.

Established in 2021, FSRTL served as a hub for collaboration among academic peers, investigative agencies, and law enforcement. The facility offers comprehensive research, educational, and training eperiences, including hands-on learning in crime scene investigation techniques and crime lab methodologies.
