In March of 1933 after Roosevelt came into power, Perkins played a big role in
the New Deal, this was a group of policy changes that Roosevelt promised
during his campagin. These policies were the introduction of bank holidays,
the economy act (lowering wages and veteran pensions), social secuirty act,
old-age insurance, unemployment insurance. This made the US a welfare
state.
