jul 27, 1919 - Chicago race riot follows drowning of a black teenager hit in the head by a rock thrown by a white man. Eventually 38 people died and over 500 injured with many structures burned. Order was restored when Illinois Govern Lowden ordered the intervention of the national guard on the evening of 07/30/1919
