nov 7, 1885 - By Proclamation 274 declares that an emergency exists in the Territory of Washington that justifies the use of military force to restore order. The precipitating events included the Chinese Expulsion of Tacoma and other violence in Seattle directed against Chinese immigrants. Troops were deployed to Seattle, and later four companies left for Tacoma
