mar 1, 1845 - Signs Joint Resolution for Annexation of Texas (5 Stat 797) Tyler offered Texas immediate annexation allowing the Republic of Texas to become a state conditional on approval of its constitution by the President on or before 01/01/1846. It permitted as many as four more states to be formed in the territory of the Republic of Texas, with or without slavery (if south of the Mason-Dixon line)
