feb 1, 1580 - Potosi Mining Operations
Description:
Silver production concentrated on the two areas: Zacatecas and Potosi. The Spanish prospectors began large scale mining in Potosi and employed the Incan Mit'a system by forcing Native Tribes to send 1/7th of their workforce to labour in the mines at Potosi. This is an example of continuation because the Aztecs and Incans expected that a conquered province would retain its local authority but pay a tribute / labour tribute to their conquerors.
