Similarities:
-Correct understanding of classical orders.
-Extensive use of classical features - capitals, architraves etc.
-Concern with proportion and mathematical ratios.
Both sometimes combines Gothic and classical features.

Differences:
-Alberti imitated Roman buildings much more closely than Brunelleschi.
-Brunelleschi adapted existing medieval building types, whereas Alberti designed wholly new architectural forms - the church facade and the centrally planned church.
-Brunelleschi used weight-bearing columns - Alberti thought that columns should only be used as a decorative measure.
-Alberti used piers to support weight - miuch more accurate.
