jan 31, 1865 - 13th Amendment

Description:

TURNING POINT:"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." This is very important as this is the outlawing of slavery in America. Not only is this the start of equal rights for black people in America at this time. Despite the oncoming years of continuous mistreatment, I think this was obviously the most important step to push equal rights and start the civil rights movement.
