oct 7, 1765 - Stamp Act Congress
October 7-25, 1765
Description:
The Stamp Act Congress, or The First Congress of the American Colonies, convened in New York City from October 7-25, 1765. It was attended by representatives from nine of the thirteen colonies and was held to discuss the new taxes on the colonies from Parliament and how the colonies should respond to them. This is very important because it was the first time officials from many colonies met to directly deliberate British taxes in the colonies.
