The Mountainarians suddenly appeared in the world in December 2020, with no clear origin. Nobody knew where they came from. The last major conflict against them took place in July 2023, when the Inostropians defeated the Second Mountainarian Empire, transforming the nation into a player-led republic. However, it remained unknown whether the Mountainarians had been completely eradicated or if they still existed somewhere in unexplored territory.

Nearly a year and a half after the final battle, Vorhees3709 made a strange discovery. A small piece of magma block suddenly fell from the sky into the ocean. At first, he assumed it was either a meteor fragment or material from a volcanic event. He brought InfinityZoom187 to examine it, and both initially agreed it was volcanic in origin. However, Vorhees quickly became suspicious. The magma fragment contained traces of netherite scrap, something that should not naturally occur in such material. Even stranger, in Infinity’s hand the object occasionally appeared to “glitch,” as if it were partially corrupted or unstable. The effect was subtle, but noticeable. At that moment, Vorhees had a realization: the Backrooms. Infinity agreed, and further investigation confirmed that the material was indeed connected to the Backrooms. Vorhees also discovered microscopic skin particles embedded within the fragment, particles that definitively matched Mountainarian biological traces. This led to a major conclusion: the Mountainarians originated from the Backrooms. What remained unknown, however, was which specific level or levels they came from.
