jun 18, 1812 - Causation( topic 4.4) War of 1812

Description:

The War of 1812 was fought between the US and Britain and their Native American allies.
Prior to the War of 1812, The Britain was impressing the American ships and making them like their slaves. This led to tension between Anti-French and Anti-British in the country, plus it really pissed off the Americans.

The US saw the opportunity and want to expand their territory to the North this time, but they ran to Britain. This war was also known as the Second American Revolution because it was the second time that the US was fighting against Britain( the most powerful navy and military of the time).

In the American Revolution the US did not have a navy, which France helped them with, but this time they were having Navy and being kind of strong.

Even though the US did not win and did not lost the war and the White House was being burnt, still they were happy because they were able to fight back. This led to the " Era of Good Feelings" in which people show a sense of nationalism.

Causes:
- Free state trade.
- Frontier lands: British, Indian and Spanish limited westward expansions in Canada and Florida.
- War Hawks: Democratic- Republicans who were Anti-British wanted the war for the economic reasons.
- The US declares war after British delays on neutrality and pressure from War Hawks.

- The US accepted Canada as a part of the British Empire.
- The Federalist party came to an end as a national force and declined even in New England.
