may 30, 1854 - Kansas-Nebraska Act 1854
Description:
This act repealed the Missouri Compromise, allowing slavery in the new territories of Kansas and Nebraska, and allowed for popular sovereignty. Because of popular sovereignty being allowed, people from both sides of the slavery issue came from all over to try and sway the votes to favor their side, causing even more tension between the sides, helping lead to the Civil War.
