Description:
On August 11, 1956, Pollock, who was driving under the influence of alcohol, crashed his car into a tree less than a mile away from his house and died on impact. Ruth Kligman, his girlfriend survived and another passenger Edith Metzger was killed.Lee Kranser who left for France to give Pollock space after their marriage began crippling. Krasner returned from France to bury pollock and went into a mourning that would last the rest of her life. Krasner also set up the Pollock-Krasner Foundation which give grants to young artists.
