jan 1, 529 BC - Cambyses
Description:
After 30 years of rule, Cyrus was succeeded by his son Cambyses who conquered Egypt and parts of Southeast Europe. Their empire was known as the Achaemenid Empire, which was also called the First Persian Empire. It united three of the earliest centers of civilization: Mesopotamia, Egypt, and India. They were combined into one large empire about the size of the U.S; it was the largest, most diverse empire at that time.
