After meeting at in exhibition, Lee Krasner an abstract expressionist, Pollock and Krasner get married and live together in Long Island, New York. Krasner's opinion and style impacted Pollok's as she had extensive training on Modern Art. While living in Long Island, Krasner's critisism and opinion was the only one he could turn to. Krasner also brought Pollock up to date with what contemporary art should be and introduced Pollock to multiple artist, collectors and critics including Fritz Bultman - an abstract expressionist painter and Herbert Matter - a pioneer of graphic design and photographer, Matter also helped Pollock further his career. But in 1956, the relationship began to crumble from Pollock's infidelity and alcoholism.
