aug 1, 1977 - Julie Elizabeth Soracco DISAPPEARANCE

Description:

15yo; Julie was born on July 6, 1962. While NamUs and Doe Network list her as 15yo at the time of her disappearance, Charley Project gives the broader range of 15-16yo. Julie is a white female, and was 5'2-5'4 and 120-130lb at the time of her disappearance. She has brown eyes, and her brown hair was shoulder-length at the time that she was last seen. While NamUs says that her hair was straight, it appears wavy in the more recent photos provided on her wiki page and Charley Project. Julie's ears are pierced.

The circumstances of Julie's disappearance are very unclear, and even the date is unknown. She was last seen sometime in 1977 or 1978; the DLC listed by many agencies -- August 1, 1977 -- is approximated.

According to Julie's family, she had lived in Sacramento with her mother and sisters for some time. She then went to live with her grandfather in Placerville, El Dorado County, CA. According to Charley Project, "After some time, she was placed in foster care and lived with a couple called Aldea."

(The wording of this statement is unclear, but seems to imply that the foster family that Julie lived with used the surname Aldea. It should be noted, however, that when I type "Aldea California" into Google, the primary results are for Aldea Children & Family Services, which is based in Napa, CA at 2310 First St. Founded in 1972, the nonprofit organization, "supports and empowers young people with serious social, mental, and behavioral difficulties with the skills to grow into independent and productive adults. A staff of over 150 provides professional mental health and child welfare services, including foster care and adoption support; advocacy for parents; therapeutic educational services; residential and outpatient psychiatric, counseling services, and independent living services." According to the timeline provided on the organization's website, in 1972 it, "Incorporate[d] to open its first group home, a residence for six adolescent girls." Then, in 1974, it, "Open[ed] Redwood Residential Treatment Center to house eight teenagers." The organization became, "licensed as a private Foster Family Agency (FFA)" in 1987, and in 1991 it became, "Licensed to certify and place foster children in Napa County.")

According to Charley Project, Julie was attending El Dorado High School at the time of her disappearance. She likely would have graduated high school in 1980, though possibly 1981, as her birthday is in July.

The specific circumstances around Julie's disappearance are unclear as well. NamUs and Doe Network both state that, "According to family rumors, [Julie] was visiting friends in El Dorado County (Placerville), she left their residence to walk to another friend's house and never made it." Meanwhile, NCMEC states that, "at the time of the disappearance, Julie left to meet a male companion at a local pizza place." Charley Project states both theories, though with some slight differences: "She may have disappeared while walking from her foster family's home to her grandfather's home, or she may have gone missing after leaving to meet a male companion at a pizza restaurant."

It is unclear whether a missing persons report was filed at the time of Julie's disappearance. She was officially reported missing in July 2019, 41-42 years after she was last seen. According to Charley Project, "Julie's grandfather did not want her case to be publicized"; this seems to imply that she may have been living with/near her grandfather at the time of her disappearance. Charley Project also notes that, "her disappearance was rarely discussed within her family."

NamUs and Doe Network note that when Julie went missing, she was (possibly) wearing a royal blue men's football sweater with a block letter "E" on one breast, as well as small gold cross stud earrings.

Julie is considered Endangered Missing, and NCMEC states that, "According to law enforcement, foul play cannot be ruled out." Charley Project also notes that, "foul play is possible." However, Julie's wiki page states that her case is classified as a, "suspected homicide" and that, "foul play is suspected in her case"; this should be taken with a grain of salt, however, due to the lack of authority that a wiki source has.

A photo of Julie age progressed to age 58 is provided on the agencies' sites. Julie's dental records are not available, though photos of her smiling with her teeth showing are on the provided websites. According to Doe Network, her fingerprints as well as her DNA are available. Five (5) UIDs are listed as exclusions on Julie's NamUs page, all of which were found in CA. Two of the exclusions have since had their NamUs page become unavailable. Julie is ~not~ San Diego Jane Doe (1977) or Carson Jane Doe (1978); she is also not the deceased Black female found in 2005.
