Description:

My father’s story of immigrating here is quite funny. When he was 1 ½ years of age, he traveled to L.A. from Taipei by himself. He wore a big fluffy coat, which his grandmother made into a safe, stuffing cash and jewelry into it, the little child like a penguin. As I mentioned above, he was used as a walking safe (which I don’t think he realized at that moment) and arrived in the U.S. safely. Before his parents came, he stayed with his grandmother (my great grandmother who is a part of this timeline).
