League of Nations was called to sort out the dispute over who should own Upper Silesia (German Industrial Area, which was given to Poland in the Treaty of Versailles). The plebiscite resulted in the League of Nations dividing the region in terms of voting demographic. The industrial areas voted for Germany; The rural areas voted for Poland
