may 26, 1948 - Hollywood 10 - Emily
Description:
As the HUAC's hearings had begun, popular culture had been seen as one of the main culprits of spreading Communist ideas. By interviewing many Hollywood head figures, screenwriters were accused of being Communist. However, even the Hollywood 10, producers and screenwriter that knew how to defend themselves in the trials, ended by being blacklisted in Hollywood for not complying with the committee. Hollywood had now become afraid of Communist manipulation, creating a distrusting and fearful society.
