Description:

Cheryl, whose nickname is Cherie, was a 5'8, 120lb white girl with brown hair and brown eyes. She was born on May 21, 1964; she was 14 years old at the time of her disappearance, and would be 60 years old now. Cheryl had previously spent some time in a Clark County, WA foster home. She may use the last name Larson.

About a week after her 14th birthday (aka about May 28), in late May of 1978, Cheryl ran away from a girl's group home in Corbett, OR. She was then sighted in San Bernardino County, CA, where she may have been placed in an unknown crisis center, detention facility, or children's home. She left this facility, walking out. She was then reportedly injured in a car accident and taken to the hospital. She then reportedly walked out of an unknown CA hospital and has not been seen or heard from again. Few details are available in her case.

While law enforcement states that it is unknown what Cheryl was wearing, NamUs includes the fact that she may have possibly been wearing a red capped-sleeve short sleeved shirt and bell-bottom jeans.

NamUs gives Cheryl's date of disappearance as May 30, 1978, while Charley Project and Doe Network give her date of disappearance as May 28, 1978, the approximate date that she ran away from the children's home in Corbett, OR. NCMEC and CA DOJ both list her as being last seen on May 1, 1978, though this may be because the exact date is unknown, while the month is known. Furthermore, the location where she was last seen is reported as San Bernardino County, CA, on both NamUs, Doe Network, and CA DOJ, while Charley Project lists her as missing from Corbet, OR.

Cheryl was not reported missing until 1995, when the report was filed in Rohnert Park, Sonoma County, CA. Cheryl has no other connection to Rohnert Park. Her case is being investigated by the Rohnert Park PD, which can be contacted at (707) 584-2612; Cheryl's case number is 9525566.

According to Doe Network, Cheryl's dental records and DNA are available, while her fingerprints are not. According to CA DOJ, her dental x-rays are available. NCMEC has created an age progression of Cheryl to 49 years old, c2013.

Cheryl is stated as having twenty (20) rule-outs on NamUs, however some of these are accidentally repeats: in reality, she only has eighteen (18) exclusions. Three of the exclusions are from CA: Cheryl is not Arvin Jane Doe (1978) or Newhall Jane Doe (1980). The last one found in CA, from 2006, has since had her NamUs page taken down. Cheryl also has one (1) exclusion from NV and three (3) from WA, all of which have their NamUs pages no longer available; Cheryl is also not Pierce County (WA) Jane Doe (2010). The rest of the exclusions are from VA, also with one each from IL, OH, and TN.
