Over time the ISAF* in Afghanistan transferred more responsibility to Afghanistan’s own security services and administration and on 20 November 2010 NATO announced a timetable for the withdrawal of international forces from Afghanistan. The UK’s combat operations officially concluded on 12 December 2014 and the nature of UK involvement shifted to contributing to NATO’s Resolute Support Mission where British forces had two main tasks*International Security Assistance Force (ISAF)
