All previously operating Starfleet vessels are recommissioned with the designation United Star Ship and given NCC registry numbers.The Starship, Intrepid and NX-type are retired from construction, though existing ships continue to remain in service until their natural retirements.
The first Federation Starships, Daedalus-class, are launched, capable of warp 7. These include the U.S.S. Essex, U.S.S. Archon, and U.S.S. Horizon.
