mar 1, 1223 - The reign and actions of Sancho II
Description:
Unlike his predecessors, Sancho II is more inclined to expand Portugal's territories, as well as fighting the Moors specifically. He conquered so much land, he saw it fit to change the full title of king to "the king of Portugal and the Algarves".
Since he became king at a very young age, other high-position nobles held true power in Portugal for a time. This causes abuses and mishandling of governance by both the nobility and the clergy, which results in the Pope declaring king Sancho II unfit to serve.
