Between 1400 and 1500 A.D., the Chinese conducted extensive maritime voyages across the Indian Ocean, led by the famous explorer Zheng He. These voyages were undertaken by massive fleets, known as "treasure ships," which were far larger than any European vessels of the time. Zheng He’s expeditions reached as far as the east coast of Africa, promoting trade, collecting tribute, and establishing diplomatic relations.
